Nutrition in cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) crops: What determining factors should be considered?

Cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) is an important commercial crop and agricultural commodity worldwide; for some Latin American countries, it essential part of export products. In Colombia, this has promising conditions to extend strengthen agriculture sector. However, their productivity low under current practices, mainly due insufficient modernization inadequate or no management nutritional schemes. This publication reviewed the different findings currently in scientific literature regarding factors that determine status plants, such as function distribution minerals, efficiency, soil properties, establishment systems, organic inorganic sources examined. Additionally, highlighted importance using expanding diagnostic tools needs design effective programs according particular each region genotypes planted. conceptual journey highlights existing theoretical experimental gap identification plantations effect on implementation fertilization used today. Information together provides elements adequately address agronomic practice economic impact farmers production chain.
